Arvigo® Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy

This ancient form of bodywork originated in Belize in the 1980’s. The techniques were created by Dr. Rosita Arvigo and Doctor-Priest Don Elijio Panti. Restorative bodywork, traditional remedies, herbal medicine, and spiritual healing are woven together to support wholeness, biochemical balance, and structural integrity. Trauma can change the way our body functions. Dysfunction in the body is a sign of imbalance and stagnation. Our body holds the ability to heal itself if we allow it.

Concerns with menstrual cycles, hormonal imbalance, abdominal scarring, digestive conditions, chronic fatigue, chronic pain, stored emotions and disconnectedness from self may benefit from this session.

Arvigo® Therapy

  • The intention of this external massage is to relieve congestion in the pelvic region by guiding displaced organs back into the proper position for optimal health. This bodywork is structured to heavily support the reproductive, digestive, nervous, and lymphatic systems. Spiritual healing is woven into this practice, and all sessions start and conclude with an honoring of self meditation, allowing for time to reconnect with the heart, womb or creative sacral space, our ancestors and mother earth.

Plant medicine is offered during your session (tea, essential oils, and/or herbs). Bodywork and Energy Healing are woven together and the majority of the work will be spent in the middle section of the body, working the abdominal and pelvic space and may include the lower back and sacral areas. Other herbal remedies may be included (castor oil pack, pelvic steam, or herbal compress). This work is meant to be deeply healing and supportive of embodiment and gentle trauma release.

You may benefit from this kind of work if you are experiencing any of the following:

    • Menstrual conditions (pain, PMS, irregularity)

    • Fibroids or Endometriosis

    • Trouble conceiving or infertility

    • Digestive discomfort, Constipation, or Bloating

**Please note: This type of bodywork is intended to be nurturing and restorative. All work is external. It may provoke the release of trauma and/or sexual healing, but it is not a sexual form of massage.
